The appearance of the book catches your attention, then the photos and drawings intrigue you, and the recipes are mostly doable. The cover says "updated for the modern kitchen" , but the original recipe is included so you can learn what an "Ice Cave" is, an "Ice Breaker" and measure a ditto, or a saltspoon. The book includes a Glossary which could have been longer, specifically toinclude Tammy Cloth, Hair Sieve,or Dish Paper.Thedrawings of molds which were available during the 1890sare beautiful and makes you wish they were being produced now.
As for the quality of the book itself, the book does not lie flat when opened and the pages are barely glued to the backing which means careful handling to keep the book intact.
