This is not a work about Cooking IN Europe 1650-1850. It's a cookbook. The title should be Cooking OF Europe 1650-1850. I was looking for information about how food was prepared--what devices were used, what methods, who had servants, how people of all classes prepared food, etc. This rather expensive book had almost none of the information I wanted. Very disappointing.

As a cookbook, it looks fairly good, if that's what you want. Otherwise, I would have given it only one star.
