You won't find any gourmet or exotic recipes here, but what you will find are solid recipes which make good-tasting food from simple ingredients. Whatever I have tried so far has been easy to make and turned out delicious. I have not tried most of the desserts, though there are a lot here -- a few of those do seem more labor-intensive.

The book is divided into the following chapters:
Salads & Dressings
Soups & then some
Fish
Meat & Poultry
Side dishes & Cooked salads
Potatoes & more potatoes
Dairy Delights
Cakes, cookies & more
Desserts & drinks
Fresh fruity ideas

This book has a truly "heimishe" feel. The photography is a bit amatuerish, and the recipe titles generally unimaginative. Part of what I usually love about a cookbook is the excitement it generates via great photos and good writing, and in that capacity this cookbook is pretty lacking. But it makes up for that with consistently reliable recipes, which are really a cookbook's best asset.

I am a very experienced cook and I still enjoyed the simplicity of the recipes. For anyone needing new, yet not complicated, ideas for Passover (or gluten-free anytime), this is a worthwhile book.

My only major complaint is the index. Whether they were saving space or just plain lazy, the recipes are indexed by recipe title only. What this means is "Thick Yellow Vegetable Soup" does not appear under S for Soup, nor V for Vegetable, but rather under T for Thick. "Fluffy Strawberry Ice Cream" is under (you guessed it) F for Fluffy. I find this practice unprofessional and highly annoying.
